PM Gramin Awas Yojana: Thousands of Beneficiary Lists Approved Across Village Councils in Bihar

The Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana continues to make headlines across rural India, with fresh activity reported from multiple gram panchayats in Bihar. In a significant administrative push, gram sabhas held across seven panchayats have approved a list of over 9,400 beneficiaries who are set to receive housing assistance under the flagship rural housing scheme.

The approvals were conducted through gram sabha meetings, where local representatives and villagers gathered to review and ratify the lists of eligible beneficiaries. This participatory process is a key feature of the scheme, ensuring that residents have a say in who qualifies for government-sponsored housing support in their communities.

In the Keoti block of Sitamarhi district, the residential beneficiary list was passed unanimously during a gram sabha session, reflecting broad community consensus. Officials noted that the smooth passage of the list signals growing awareness and acceptance of the scheme among rural populations in the region.

However, not all proceedings went without concern. In the Keoti Runway area, a list of 802 PM Awas Yojana beneficiaries was approved, but local residents raised complaints about alleged irregularities in the selection process. Villagers voiced concerns that some genuinely deserving families may have been left out while ineligible households were included. These grievances have been noted by local authorities, who are expected to review the objections and take corrective action.

The Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana is a central government initiative aimed at providing pucca houses to homeless and economically weaker families in rural areas. The scheme has been instrumental in improving living conditions for millions of households across the country.

Officials have urged citizens to report any discrepancies through proper channels so that the benefits of the scheme reach the most deserving families without any misuse or manipulation of the selection process.
