Imam Siddique, a former Bigg Boss contestant, has written an open letter to host Salman Khan after his name was mentioned during a Weekend Ka Vaar episode of Bigg Boss 20. The reference came while Salman was discussing contestant Qazi Touqeer’s conduct towards fellow contestant Kanika Mann, and Imam has now termed the comparison “extremely defamatory and factually incorrect”.
The controversy originated during Saturday’s episode when Salman spoke to Qazi about his argument with Kanika, who had expressed discomfort over one of his jokes. Despite Kanika making her discomfort clear, Qazi continued to justify his behaviour. Salman advised him that once someone indicates a remark has hurt them, the appropriate response is to step back rather than persist. He told Qazi, “Jab kisi ko aapka intention galat laga hai, you should just back out. Lekin aap lage rahe, nonstop like a stuck record.” While making this point, Salman referenced Imam Siddique, one of the most discussed contestants from Bigg Boss Season 6.
Imam Siddique’s Response
Reacting to the mention, Imam shared a clip of the episode on Instagram along with an open letter addressed directly to Salman. He stated that being named on national television in what he described as a defamatory manner was factually incorrect, asserting that he had never harassed any contestant with the intention of troubling them. According to Imam, his time on the show was focused on “entertainment, tasks and performance”.
Imam further explained that being cited as a negative example in front of a large television audience, without a chance to respond, could harm the reputation he has built over decades. He said the remark also impacts his professional legacy and his family’s honour, pointing to his 44 years of work spanning advertising, broadcasting, corporate work, design, education, events, entertainment and fashion.
Despite his objection, Imam’s letter maintained a respectful tone throughout. He referred to Salman as his “elder brother” and expressed continued respect for him, while requesting a clarification and correction on the show. He also asked that his name not be used in a defamatory context in the future, stating that he has always respected Salman as an elder figure in the industry and hopes his request will be considered fairly.
Imam Siddique was the runner-up of Bigg Boss Season 6, which aired between 2012 and 2013, a season won by Urvashi Dholakia. Meanwhile, tensions continue among contestants on Bigg Boss 20, with Salman having addressed Qazi Touqeer’s behaviour towards Kanika Mann during the latest Weekend Ka Vaar episode.
