Reality TV star Kushal Tanwar, popularly known as Gullu, who shot to fame after winning Roadies Double Cross and went on to win shows like Splitsvilla and Maa Hai Na, is currently a contestant on Salman Khan’s Bigg Boss 20. In a recent episode, Gullu opened up about a personal chapter of his life, revealing that his marriage had lasted just about five months before ending in divorce.
The revelation comes years after a photo of Gullu with his wife had surfaced online following his Roadies win, sparking speculation that he was already married. At the time, Gullu had neither confirmed nor denied the claims. Speaking to fellow contestant Qazi Touqeer inside the Bigg Boss house, Gullu finally addressed the reports, admitting that he had indeed been married and got divorced within four and a half to five months, in 2024.
Describing it as a difficult period in his life, Gullu said it wasn’t a typical heartbreak but still deeply affected him. He explained that he couldn’t discuss it with others because people viewed his decision as wrong, even though he believed it was the right choice for himself. He also admitted that he was not in love with the woman he had married, and that talking about it publicly at the time would have invited judgment and ridicule.
Gullu further revealed that the situation had caused a rift with his family, who wanted him to stay in the marriage while he was determined to go through with the divorce. He recalled that while he was celebrating his Roadies win with friends in Goa, his wedding photo got leaked online even before the divorce was finalised. He said his family was upset with his decision and stopped speaking to him as a result. He also pointed out that early marriages are common in his community, often due to social pressure on individuals who aren’t seen as “doing enough” with their lives.
Hosted by Salman Khan, Bigg Boss 20 features 16 celebrity contestants. So far, actor Rohed Khan has been the only contestant eliminated from the house. This week, Yung DSA and Isha Rikhi are nominated for eviction and have already lost their second lives, putting them at risk of elimination based on audience votes. The show streams on JioHotstar and airs on Colors TV.
