Fresh off the triumph of his recent dramatic release ‘OMG 2’, Bollywood luminary Akshay Kumar is soaring to new heights. The actor touched down in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, all set to commence filming for his next project. Tentatively titled ‘Sky Force’, the official confirmation of the film’s title is still pending. Making a grand entrance via helicopter, the actor donned casual attire and enthusiastically greeted his fans.
In the midst of this, Akshay’s latest offering, ‘OMG 2’, co-starring Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam, has struck gold at the Indian box office, amassing a remarkable Rs 126.42 crores.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Instagram to express, “OMG 2 displays STRONG LEGS in Week 2… A substantial chunk of its biz has come from multiplexes of major centres… A creditable total, considering it faced the onslaught of a #Typhoon called #Gadar2… [Week 2] Fri 6.03 cr, Sat 10.53 cr, Sun 12.06 cr, Mon 3.70 cr, Tue 3.25 cr, Wed 3 cr, Thu 2.80 cr. Total: ₹ 126.42 cr. #India biz. #OMG2 biz at a glance…”
This milestone marks Akshay’s 10th release on Independence Day and appears to have steered his career in an upward trajectory after a series of setbacks. Apart from this achievement, he’s also gearing up for the yet-to-be-titled Hindi adaptation of ‘Soorarai Pottru’, slated for a February 2024 release, starring Radhika Madan and Paresh Rawal in pivotal roles.
Adding to his repertoire, the action thriller ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’, co-starring Tiger Shroff, is scheduled to hit theaters on Eid 2024. Additionally, Akshay is set to reunite with Riteish Deshmukh for the fifth installment of his successful comedy franchise, ‘Housefull’.
