Darlings will be a movie where Alia will debut as a producer. The movie is directed by newbie Jasmeet K Reen and is produced by Alia Bhatt, Gauri Khan, and Gaurav Verma. This dark comedy-romance film will stream on Netflix from 5th August.
The trailer of the movie was released today and we are so excited. What we can tell from the trailer is that this movie revolves around a mother and daughter played by Shefali Shah and Alia Bhatt respectively. The mother-daughter duo try and find their place in society and fight exceptional circumstances. Their courage and fearlessness get them through some very dangerous situations.
Teaser Review
The trailer has us all guessing what is this movie about? From the dark undertones, we know it’s not a romantic film, but it also has humor so it is not Black Friday as well. Alias’s character ‘Budru’ and Vijay’s character ‘Gaurav’ are in a relationship and finally decide to marry each other. Budru’s mother Rukhsar played by Shefali Shah is elated with the news.
When we feel that all is well things take a turn for the worse. The movie takes a sinister turn where Gaurav’s snake-like charm grows on Budru’s best friend and soon we hear a murder is committed. The teaser has us hooked and committed to this movie. There is absolutely no reason to not watch Darlings: Produced by Alia Bhatt.
The teaser look quite refreshing in comparison to many recent releases which have been heavy and jargoned with propaganda. It also helps to have a stunning star cast like an A-list bollywood celebrity Alia and Shefali Shah a veteran actor who has proven her expertise time and again. In all honestly Shehfali Shah is a delight to watch on screen. With Darlings we get to watch both Alia and the extremly talented Shefali Shah togetehr on screen.
Alia’s character
Alia’s character Budru seems like a mix of Safeena from Gully Boy and Sahmet from Raazi. We say this because Budru has innocence like Sahmet whereas Safeena’s courage and fearlessness. She can be violent like Safeena and has hints of cynicism yet a wide-eye attitude towards life. Kalank actress’s dialect and mannerisms do not seem unique they remind us of her previous character. However, we believe in Alia’s craft and we are sure that she will get better with time. Alia’s physical too does not bring any newness to the character. However. we are excited to see her on Netflix as an actor and film producer.
Career
Alia Bhat has quite a few movies lined up, just four days after the release of Darlings the extremely awaited movie Bhrahmastra will release in theaters. The Raazi actress already is in news for her marriage to Ranbir Kapoor and the announcement of her pregnancy.
Gully boy actress was last seen in Gangubai Kathiawadi which won her many accolades and praises both from critics and the audiences. The success of Gangubai Kathiawadi lends itself to increasing her stardom and fan following. Alia also played a small part in the movie RRR which too became a box office hit.
