10 days after the party the reports of celebs testing positive, his birthday party was called a super-spreader event or hotspot of covid-19. However, later reports said otherwise, It was said that all 50 guests were infected but that is not true. Almost all big celebrities from Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwariya, Janhvi Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, etc were invited. The report that all 50 guests tested positive is almost bizarre and shocking for the following reasons; Almost all actors who are working have to go through covid tests and maintain mandatory covid protocols. Even Karan Johar who is shooting for Koffee With Karan has been going under regular covid tests.
Some actors who tested positive did not even attend the Birthday bash. Some actors and actresses are promoting films and some are busy shooting for upcoming films. Like Kartik Aryan who was promoting his film tested positive. So claiming that this event, in particular, led to the spread of the virus is false and outlandish.
The birthday bash is the stuff of goals though. Turning 50 is no small thing but doing it in style and glam is what one expects from Karan. This backlash from the media hurt Karan Johar. in his interview with Film Companion, he told Anumapa Chopra that is being falsely accused of spreading COVID. He also said, “There were stories in the media about it being a super-spreader. Now look, not to get technical about it but we don’t know who contracted it and when because a lot was happening that week in the film industry. There was another party, there were weddings, there were events, there were shoots, why blame me? Like everything, why does it come down to me?”.
