The divine tales of Lord Shri Krishna have always been a captivating subject, whether on the silver screen, television shows, or animated films.
From the childhood of Lord Krishna to the epic Mahabharata war, various stories have been depicted on screens, showcasing the different facets of Lord Krishna’s life and Leelas. Even on the small screen, Lord Krishna’s life and Leelas have been portrayed multiple times.
This is one of the most iconic historical television series in India. It began airing on October 2, 1988, and was produced by B.R. Chopra. The story of Mahabharata primarily revolves around the events leading up to the great Mahabharata war between the Kauravas and Pandavas. Nitish Bharadwaj portrayed the character of Lord Krishna and became immensely popular for his portrayal. The series consisted of a total of 94 episodes.
This TV series started airing on July 18, 1993, on Doordarshan. Created by Ramanand Sagar, the show meticulously depicted all of Lord Shri Krishna’s Leelas. Sarvadaman D. Banerjee played the role of Lord Krishna with excellence. The series had a total of 221 episodes.
Jai Shri Krishna:
Starting from July 21, 2008, this series showcased the childhood Leelas of Lord Krishna. The playful antics of young Krishna and his mother Yashoda with the other Gopas were widely loved by the audience. Dhriti Bhatia portrayed the young Lord Krishna character brilliantly, capturing the hearts of viewers. The series comprised a total of 285 episodes.
This series began airing on June 29, 2015, and focused on Lord Krishna’s arrival on Earth in the present day, spreading the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita in a comical manner. Siddharth Arora portrayed Lord Krishna’s character. The storyline was fictional and infused with a touch of comedy. The series had a total of 285 episodes.
Airing from October 1, 2018, to January 21, 2023, on Star Bharat, this series portrayed the love story of Lord Shri Krishna and Radha in great detail. Sumedh Mudgalkar played the role of Lord Krishna. This series had a whopping 1145 episodes, and it depicted the divine love between Radha and Krishna.
Dwarkadheesh – Bhagwan Shri Krishna:
Airing from July 4, 2011, to April 12, 2012, on Imagine TV, this series showcased Lord Krishna’s life after becoming the king of Dwarka. Vishal Karwal played the role of Lord Krishna. The series began with Lord Krishna’s involvement in the battle against Jarasandha and his subsequent victories as the king of Dwarka.
