Melbourne has honoured pop icon Kylie Minogue with a towering 13-storey mural unveiled opposite the city’s Flinders Street Station. The artwork marks one of the largest tributes to the singer in the city’s history and comes ahead of her much-anticipated Telstra Pre-Game Entertainment performance at the Toyota AFL Grand Final.
The mural was created by acclaimed Melbourne street artist Adnate, who is known internationally for his large-scale portraits on building facades, including a previous 20-storey mural on a housing commission building in the city. The Minogue tribute was produced in collaboration with Mushroom Creative House and with support from Telstra. Completing the piece was no small task—Adnate worked alongside two other artists for a full week, using more than 150 cans of spray paint to bring the design to life.
Speaking about the project, Adnate said he felt incredibly proud of what the team had achieved, noting that Kylie Minogue represents a significant part of Melbourne’s cultural identity. He said the artwork was designed to celebrate her career while reflecting the excitement building around the 2026 AFL Grand Final, adding that this was among the most high-profile locations and subjects he has ever painted.
Flinders Street Station, Australia’s oldest train station, sees an estimated 110,000 commuters pass through its gates daily, meaning the mural will be seen by a huge number of people during its display. Mushroom Group Chief Executive Matt Gudinski described Minogue as one of the most recognisable stars Australia has ever produced, adding that her status as a proud Melburnian makes the tribute even more meaningful. He said her upcoming Telstra Pre-Game Entertainment performance is expected to be a historic moment.
The mural is set to remain on display for a minimum of eight weeks, giving commuters and visitors an extended opportunity to view the tribute to the Australian music legend.
