Actress Mahhi Vij recently spoke about her upbringing and how those experiences have gone on to shape the way she parents her own children today. Reflecting on her early years, she drew a clear contrast between the freedom she enjoyed growing up and the increasingly overprotective style of parenting that she observes among many parents now.
Mahhi recalled that her own childhood was far from sheltered. She remembered facing real consequences when she failed in school or got involved in teenage romances, situations that many parents today might rush to shield their children from. According to her, these experiences, though difficult at the time, played an important role in building resilience and character.
The Need for Children to Face Minor Challenges
Speaking about her parenting philosophy, Mahhi emphasised that children should be allowed to encounter small setbacks and challenges as part of growing up. She believes that such experiences teach valuable life lessons, provided children also feel secure in the knowledge that their parents are there to support them when needed.
Mahhi further stressed that finding the right balance between offering guidance and allowing independence is crucial for a child’s overall development. Overprotecting children, she suggested, can unintentionally affect their confidence and ability to handle real-world situations on their own. Her comments add to the ongoing conversation among parents and public figures about how to raise confident, resilient children in today’s times.
