Nine new titles including Bethlehem Kudumba Unit, Pooja Meri Jaan, Aoashi Season 2 and a Schumacher documentary are streaming this weekend across major OTT platforms.

The first weekend of October brings a fresh wave of entertainment to streaming platforms, with films, anime sequels and documentaries releasing between October 2 and October 4. The lineup spans Malayalam and Hindi cinema, Japanese anime, martial arts action, and sports and adventure documentaries, giving viewers a wide range of choices across Netflix, JioHotstar, Prime Video, ZEE5, Lionsgate Play and Apple TV+.

Films and Series Releasing October 2

Leading the weekend is Bethlehem Kudumba Unit, a Malayalam romantic comedy starring Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju, premiering on JioHotstar. The story follows Ashley, who returns from abroad only to find old feelings resurfacing as a wedding takes place next door. On ZEE5, the Hindi thriller Pooja Meri Jaan features Mrunal Thakur and Huma Qureshi. It centres on Pooja, who turns down a suitor whose fixation on her turns disturbing; after his death, she must defend herself against allegations of abetment.

Netflix is also adding the documentary Schumacher ’94: The Birth of a Legend, which revisits Michael Schumacher’s landmark 1994 Formula 1 season that brought him his first world championship. Meanwhile, Lionsgate Play will stream Ip Man: Kung Fu Legend, a martial arts drama set in 1950s Hong Kong where the title character fights to establish a Wing Chun school despite opposition from rival masters and a criminally-backed redevelopment plan. Prime Video brings the action thriller Kill Jackie, starring Catherine Zeta-Jones as a former drug smuggler who is forced out of hiding when assassins are sent after her. Apple TV+ rounds out the day’s releases with The Last First: Winter K2, an adventure documentary chronicling the 2021 attempt to scale K2 in winter, featuring climbers John Snorri Sigurjónsson, Ali Sadpara and Sajid Sadpara.

Anime Sequels Arriving October 4

Anime fans have two returning series to look forward to on Netflix from October 4. Aoashi Season 2 continues the story of young footballer Ashito Aoi as he works to sharpen his skills and compete at the national level. Alongside it, Blue Box Season 2 picks up Taiki’s story as his admiration for basketball player Chinatsu grows into a deeper relationship, blending romance with competitive school sports.

With this mix of regional films, a Hindi thriller, anime sequels, martial arts action and documentaries on Formula 1 and mountaineering, the weekend offers plenty of variety for streaming audiences. Most of the nine titles are available starting October 2, with the two anime sequels following on October 4.
