Amid the ongoing controversy surrounding Mahhi Vij’s stint on Bigg Boss 20, former contestant Shehnaaz Gill has publicly extended her support to the television actress. While several viewers have criticised Mahhi for her conduct inside the reality show, Shehnaaz has made it clear that her backing for her friend will not waver, regardless of the opinions being formed about her gameplay.
On October 9, Shehnaaz took to her Instagram stories and shared a heartfelt note addressed to Mahhi Vij. In the note, she admitted that she has not been following Bigg Boss 20 closely and, therefore, cannot offer an opinion on whether Mahhi is playing the game well or poorly. “I am not following Bigg Boss so I don’t know how Mahhi is playing, good or bad. But I’m still supporting her,” Shehnaaz wrote, underlining that her support is rooted in personal loyalty rather than her assessment of the show.
Explaining the reason behind her unconditional support, Shehnaaz recalled a difficult period in her own life when Mahhi had stood by her. She revealed that she once found herself in a similarly vulnerable position and remembered how tough that phase had been. “I was also in the same platform that Mahhi is in today and I remember how difficult it was. There was a time when I did not even have clothes. Mahhi stepped in and supported me a lot,” she shared. Shehnaaz further added that Mahhi had been present through both her joyous and painful moments, saying, “When I laughed, she laughed with me. When I cried, she cried with me.”
Concluding her note, Shehnaaz reaffirmed her faith in Mahhi’s character, stating that her personal experiences with the actress outweigh the criticism surrounding her gameplay. “She is genuinely such a pure and clean-hearted person. I have seen that side of her and that’s why no matter how she plays inside the house, I will always support her,” she wrote. Meanwhile, Mahhi Vij continues to face criticism from a section of viewers over her behaviour and interactions with fellow contestants on the show, which airs on JioHotstar at 9 pm and Colors TV at 10:30 pm, hosted by Salman Khan.
