YouTuber Sourav Joshi has found himself at the centre of online criticism once again after a segment from his vlog showed him daring his wife, Avantika Bhatt, to drink water from their pet dog Oreo’s bowl during a truth-and-dare game. The clip triggered widespread backlash on social media, prompting Sourav to address the controversy directly in his latest vlog.
Explaining the context, Sourav said that during the truth-and-dare segment, Avantika had drunk water from Oreo’s bowl, which led to many people questioning how he could ask her to do such a thing. Defending himself, he stated that the bowl had been washed thoroughly before it was used and that the water they give their pet is not ordinary drinking water. He revealed that the family drinks alkaline water, adding that while he does not usually share such details, the water used was of good quality and the bowl had been cleaned beforehand.
Sourav also spoke about his bond with Oreo, describing the dog as part of the family and claiming that he himself sometimes eats from Oreo’s food bowl. He further addressed concerns about hygiene, insisting that cleanliness is maintained at their home. On the nature of the challenge itself, he said that dares can involve anything and hinted that more extreme tasks could follow in future content.
The incident sparked strong reactions online, with several social media users criticising the act. One user wrote that making a wife drink from a dog’s bowl reflected poorly on self-respect, calling the act embarrassing. Another questioned how a husband could ask his wife to do such a thing and why she agreed to it, suggesting both needed to reconsider their choices.
