Bihar Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary following a harassment incident in Jamui, alleging that law and order in the state had completely broken down. Yadav said Bihar was being disgraced due to the incident and accused the state government of failing its citizens.
The controversy stems from a video that went viral on Monday, showing a group of people allegedly harassing a boy and a girl on a roadside in Jamui. The footage sparked widespread outrage across the state, with many condemning the incident and questioning the government’s handling of law and order.
Reacting to the incident, Tejashwi Yadav said, “Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary should immediately resign. It is shameful that some NDA leaders, including ministers, are justifying the incident by saying that such small things happen.” His remarks reflect the RJD’s broader criticism that the state is witnessing what he termed as ‘gundaraaj’ under the current administration.
Following the viral video, police swiftly arrested several accused individuals and formed a special investigation team to identify others who appeared in the footage. The incident has since escalated into a political standoff, with opposition parties intensifying their attack on the state government over deteriorating law and order, while NDA leaders have assured that strict action will be taken against all those found responsible.
