Throwback to the time when Shah Rukh Khan remarked, “My role involves creating markets for India.”
Shah Rukh Khan is bestowed with the title ‘Badshah’ for a valid reason. His unmatched dominance at the Indian and international box office is truly remarkable. He stood among the first actors who recognized the potential of global markets and began showcasing his films on a grand scale there. It all commenced with Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and progressed with movies like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, My Name Is Khan. By the time Pathaan hit the screens, he had cemented an enviable position.
Pathaan now stands as the second highest-grossing film in the United States of America, a market not historically inclined towards Hindi movies (the first being Baahubali 2: The Conclusion). Shah Rukh Khan also succeeded in unlocking markets in countries like Germany, Australia, and the UAE.
In a circulating video, SRK elaborated on his emphasis to expand new markets for Indian cinema. He expressed, “It’s my responsibility, having become a significant star due to my country, to serve as an ambassador for Indian Cinema and pave the way for worldwide markets through my films. Because I can take a calculated risk… a small loss amidst substantial profit doesn’t affect much.”
He added, “My role doesn’t involve drawing foreign funds to make movies here… I have ample resources in India. My role is to attract global attention. Once there are eyeballs, money follows. I aspire to create films and cultivate markets for India.”
Shah Rukh Khan’s forthcoming film “Jawan” is generating significant anticipation not only within India but also across the globe. The film’s advance bookings are already underway in markets including the USA, UAE, Germany, Australia, and Saudi Arabia.
