Actress Urvashi Rautela’s management team has stated that it is initiating legal proceedings against a Los Angeles-based artificial intelligence company, accusing it of unauthorised use of the actress’ name, images and videos. The team has said that damages in the matter are currently being assessed at Rs 7,000 crore.
According to a statement issued by Urvashi’s team, the AI company allegedly used her identity and content commercially without seeking permission. The team emphasised that any use of the actress’ name, image or likeness for business purposes must only be done with proper authorisation from her side.
In an exclusive statement shared with IANS, Urvashi’s team said, “Their business has allegedly generated billions of dollars in value by using Urvashi’s name, images and videos without authorization. We are pursuing appropriate legal remedies, including damages currently being assessed at ₹7,000 crore against the Los Angeles-based company. Build your AI (artificial intelligence) company. Build your brand. But keep Urvashi’s name out of your business unless you have permission. Team Urvashi Rautela.”
The team also posted a similar note on Instagram, reiterating that legal remedies were being pursued and that damages worth ₹7,000 crore were being assessed against the company, whose operations have allegedly generated billions of dollars in value through the unauthorised use of Urvashi’s identity.
Salman Khan Also Flags AI Misuse Concerns
The development comes amid growing concerns in the Indian entertainment industry over the misuse of artificial intelligence. Actor Salman Khan recently spoke about the issue during an episode of ‘Bigg Boss 20,’ highlighting how AI has advanced to a point where it is being used to create fake videos and voice dubbings without consent. He noted that AI-generated content, including videos featuring him, has become a serious and concerning trend, describing the situation as “very scary.”
