In 2000 Hera Pheri was one of the finest comedies produced by Bollywood. Even today it has stood the test of time and aged beautifully, one can even say that Hera Pheri is as popular as it gets. The sequel Phir Hera Pheri released in 2006 was equally entertaining, memes have made these films even more popular and niche.
Who will be cast in Hera Pheri 3?
As a result of this popular demand for Hera Pheri 3 has been very high. Bollywood Hungama spoke to the producer Firoz Nadiadwala, in this interview they asked him about Hera Pheri 3 and this is what he had to say “You’ll get to see it very soon with the same star cast – Akshay Ji, Paresh Bhai, and Suniel Ji. The story is in place and we are working on certain modalities. It will be made in the same way, retaining the innocence of the characters. We cant take past achievements for granted. So, we have to be extra careful in terms of our story, mannerisms, characters, screenplay, etc.”
Who will direct it?
When Firoz Nadiadwala was asked who will direct Hera Pheri this is what he said, “We have shortlisted somebody. We are in talks. We’ll make the announcement soon” The first movie was directed by Priyadarshan who did not just give us a gem like Hera Pheri but also directed Bhool Bhulaiyaa and Dhol. Both these movies are superbly entertaining which gives us hope that he might direct the 3rd Hera Pheri as well. Firoz does not disclose the name of the director. However, he clarifies rumors that Dream Girl director Raaj Shaandilyaa was approached to direct Hera Pheri 3. Nadiadwala said, “No that’s not true”.
The sequel was directed by Neeraj Vora who also directed Khatta Meetha, Bol Bachchan, and Golmaal fun Unlimited. He too had a knack for directing comedy movies but unfortunately, he passed away on December 17, 2017. Nonetheless, Hera Pheri remains a keenly awaited film that can be watched with your entire family and friends.
Pressure on Hera Pheri 3
The experts and trade pundits say that Hera Pheri 3 has the potential to cross 60 crores even on a non-holiday Friday to this Firoz Nadiadwala says “Isiliye humpar Zimmedari zyada hai na?” No doubt that with both the films being a hit pressure mounts on Hera Pheri 3 to at least equally well if not exceed its predecessors.
Firoz Nadiadwala explains that he does not want the film to open with big numbers instead he wants his film to sustain the box office, for him that will be success. He add further saying “Sustaing at box office is important. And the moment you take anything for granted, it falls. Because we hope God willing, we can make more parts- Hera Pheri 4, Hera Pheri 5. And it should be better than the earlier parts. We hope that there will be a new film released every 15 months. Isnt this how Hollywood operates? Dont we get a spider-man or James bond movie soon after the previous part has been released in the cinemas?”
Last time in 2014 when Hera Pheri had hit the floors the director fell ill and eventually passed away. The movie was shelved and is finally being made again. To be honest we cannot wait anymore.
