Pakistani RJ Dr Ejaz Waris has issued a public apology to Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif after facing backlash for making body-shaming remarks about her post-pregnancy weight. The controversy erupted after Waris commented on Katrina’s appearance at the Ambani Ganpati celebrations, where she was seen with her husband, actor Vicky Kaushal.
While Katrina Kaif chose not to respond to the trolling directly, her former boyfriend and Bollywood superstar Salman Khan addressed the issue strongly during an episode of Bigg Boss 20. Salman’s remarks on the show appear to have prompted Waris to reconsider his comments and issue a formal apology.
In a video posted on his Instagram account, Waris apologised to both Katrina Kaif and Salman Khan, referring to them as his “favourites.” He said he was truly sorry if his words had hurt Katrina or anyone else who was upset by the remarks. According to Waris, his comment was made in a casual manner without any intention of body-shaming, though he admitted he was uncertain what led him to make the statement.
Waris explained that the remark occurred while he was reviewing the “best looks” of couples from the Ambani Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, and that it emerged as part of a lighthearted joke during the discussion. He acknowledged that his comment was a mistake and said he had been feeling guilty about it since making the remark.
The RJ further stated that although some people might suggest he was apologising out of fear following Salman Khan’s reaction, he was not worried about such perceptions. He reiterated that his apology to Katrina Kaif, whom he described as a “superstar of India” and “the world,” was sincere and heartfelt.
