The team managing Bigg Boss 20 contestant Rhiti Tiwari has issued a strong response to allegations made by her ex-stepfather and Punjabi singer Ekam Bawa, who claimed that Rhiti and her mother, Rani Tiwari, had ‘tortured’ him during the period they lived together.
On Monday, Rhiti’s team posted an official statement on her Instagram Stories, describing Ekam’s claims as false and urging media outlets to verify facts before publishing such reports. The statement noted that since Rhiti is currently a contestant inside the Bigg Boss 20 house, she is unable to respond to the allegations herself.
The statement read, “We are disappointed to see false claims made by #EkamBawa against Rhiti Tiwari and her family being carried across various media platforms. Rhiti is currently inside the #BiggBoss20 house and can’t respond to these allegations herself.” It further added, “We request the media to please verify facts before amplifying such defamatory claims and give the family a fair chance to be heard. Necessary legal action has been initiated against #EkamBawa in relation to these allegations.”
What Ekam Bawa Alleged
Ekam had earlier shared a video on his social media account alleging that Rhiti and Rani used to mistreat him while he lived with them. Recounting a specific incident, he said, “Bhai, Rhiti aayi mere room mein, mere almeera se hanger se jitne kapde the mere, isne pakad ke saare zameen pe phenk diye,” which translates to Rhiti entering his room, pulling all his clothes off the hangers in his cupboard, and throwing them on the floor. He claimed she then told him to leave, addressing him only by his name, which left him shocked given their family relationship.
Ekam also disputed Rhiti’s earlier claims of receiving a monthly allowance of Rs 20,000 to Rs 25,000, calling them completely false. He pointed to her possession of handbags worth Rs 4 to 5 lakh and expensive vehicles, stating that maintaining a Range Rover alone costs between Rs 2.5 to 3 lakh, to argue that her financial situation contradicted her allowance claims.
With Rhiti’s team now confirming that legal proceedings have been initiated against Ekam Bawa, the dispute between the two parties appears set to continue outside the reality show as well.
